LOU REED’S BERLIN
Julian Schnabel 2007
Categories: Documentary
1 picture Pictures
Run time: 81 min. | USA
Lou Reed recorded the album “Berlin” in 1973. It was a commercial failure. Over the next 33 years, he never performed the album live. Until, 2006, at St. Ann’s Warehouse in Brooklyn, New York. Filmed over 5 nights, Lou Reed’s 2006 live concert performance of his 1973 concept album ‘Berlin,” unites original musicians like lead guitarist Steve Hunter with young guest vocalist like Anthony of Anthony and the Johnsons. Along with the now-classic ‘Berlin” cuts like “How do you think it feels?” and “The Bed,” Reed includes the Velvet Underground retread, “Sweet Jane” and his later composition, “Rock Minuet.”
